The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has clarified the circumstances of the hooliganism incident that occurred during a gathering in front of the National Assembly on December 28, 2020, as a result of investigative and procedural actions conducted within the framework of the criminal case in the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan.
The preliminary investigation regarding two individuals has been completed. According to information from the RA Investigative Committee, on the specified date, between 09:00 and 11:30, two men, aged 42 and 34, participated in a gathering aimed at obstructing the normal activities of the National Assembly on Demirchyan Street in Yerevan.
During the gathering, they grossly violated public order, demonstrated open disrespect towards society, and disregarded police requests, thereby impeding the movement of vehicles traveling through the road in that area.
During this time, the 34-year-old man used eggs and snowballs that he had brought with him to strike the service vehicle of MP A.K. Subsequently, a group of participants continued their hooligan actions by obstructing the passage of MP S.G., using derogatory language, and striking his vehicle.
When S.G. exited his vehicle, the 42-year-old man and a group of gathering participants, ignoring the presence of other pedestrians, shouted insults and struck S.G. with eggs, pulled him, and inflicted blows on various parts of his body with their hands and feet, resulting in injuries.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained, charges have been filed against the 42-year-old man under Article 195, part 1, and Article 297, part 2, point 1 of the RA Criminal Code, while the 34-year-old man has been charged under Article 297, part 2, point 1 of the RA Criminal Code. During the preliminary investigation, it was decided to separate their cases into a different proceeding, where the preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor's office with a request to confirm the accusatory conclusion and forward the case to court.
