We Call on Azerbaijan to Restore Free Movement Through the Corridor: U.S. State Department

The suspension of traffic through the Lachin corridor has severe humanitarian consequences and undermines the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This statement was made today by Ned Price, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, during a press briefing, as reported by TASS.

“We have made it clear that the closure of the Lachin corridor has serious humanitarian implications and delays the peace process,” said Price, adding, “We call on the government of Azerbaijan to restore free movement through the corridor.”

“Any disruption to the operations of energy infrastructure, and we have seen reports of shutdowns of energy infrastructures, can exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, especially during the winter months. It is unacceptable to harm the peaceful residents of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he noted.
