What Objectives Does Azerbaijan Pursue with This Provocation? The President of Artsakh's Parliament Details
Arthur Tovmasyan, the President of the Artsakh National Assembly, condemned Azerbaijan's latest provocative actions.
“Today, on December 12, at 10:30 AM, the Azerbaijani side has closed the only interstate highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia for the second time. The full right to life and existence of the Republic of Artsakh and its people is unprecedentedly endangered,” he stated.
By closing the corridor, Azerbaijan's military-political leadership pursues several objectives:
- Change the status quo established by the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020.
- Discredit the role of Russian peacekeepers.
- Test our vigilance; if absent, depopulate Artsakh.
We call upon interested organizations of the international community to strongly condemn Azerbaijan's provocative actions and to apply adequate deterrent measures against Azerbaijan. We appeal to the authorities of the Republic of Armenia and the people, the Armenian diaspora, and our compatriots living in Artsakh to set aside internal disagreements for the sake of the defense of Armenia's border regions and the Republic of Artsakh; otherwise, it will be too late tomorrow.
