Azerbaijan Allocates Over $3 Billion for 2023 Military Expenditures
The Azerbaijani government will allocate over $3.1 billion from the state budget for 2023 to defense and national security, announced Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
“Strengthening Azerbaijan’s defense capabilities is a priority for the Azerbaijani leadership. 16 percent of the state budget expenditures for 2023 will be directed to these purposes. In absolute numbers, this amounts to 5.3 billion manats,” Asadov stated on Friday in parliament.
Last year, the Azerbaijani government allocated 4.9 billion manats to the military sector. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated in recent weeks that they are compelled to raise the military budget to a record level due to perceived threats from Armenia, even after the defeat in war.
