"Getting out of here will be in Armenia's interest": Erdoğan's spokesperson on Armenian-Turkish relations

The spokesperson and chief advisor of the President of Turkey, İbrahim Kalın, has commented on the Armenian-Turkish normalization process. This information is reported by Ermenihaber.

Kalın expressed his belief that "in the next 10 years, very good steps will be taken not only with Azerbaijan but also with Armenia." He added: "Our relations with Armenia will be normalized rapidly. The signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan will usher in an era of peace and prosperity across the Caucasus. Everyone will benefit from this, but especially Armenia. Because Armenia is a small country without access to the sea, with a population of 3 million. Normalizing relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey will most benefit Armenia's development," he stated.

Kalın also reiterated Turkish claims that the Armenian diaspora does not want the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. "I can say that contrary to the opinion of the Armenian diaspora, Armenia needs Turkey and Azerbaijan much more than the US, France, and other countries. You know, the Armenian diaspora is primarily concentrated in 2 countries in the world – the US and France, where they are extremely influential in politics, economics, media, and other sectors," Kalın noted.

He also claimed that "Armenia is effectively under the military protection and economic control of Russia and is a country seeking to position itself as part of the Western alliance. Getting out of here will be in Armenia's interest. That is why the best option for them would be to normalize relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan," Kalın concluded.
