Air Cargo Transportation Between Armenia and Turkey to Start by Year-End
Following the resumption of direct flights between Armenia and Turkey, efforts are now underway to begin air cargo transportation. This was reported by the Turkish state-affiliated newspaper 'Hurrriyet.' The information was shared by Ermenihaber.
The website added that in addition, specialists are conducting technical work to open the Alijan checkpoint located on the Armenia-Turkey border. According to sources, the work for launching air cargo transportation is nearing completion, and operations are set to commence before the end of 2022.
The media outlet noted that Turkish goods will now directly reach Armenia. Another significant issue in the Armenian-Turkish normalization process is granting permission for citizens of third countries to cross the Armenian-Turkish land border. However, according to the source, there are challenges in this regard. In particular, a 128-meter-long bridge at the Armenia-Turkey border requires renovation.
According to the source, a meeting at the expert level took place weeks ago regarding this issue. However, clear steps are expected to be taken later, considering the harsh weather conditions.
