Video: What Armenia Expects from CSTO, Mirzoyan Responds

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, spoke in the National Assembly about Armenia's expectations from the CSTO.

"The expectation is one that we have from all possible partners—to clearly record what has happened: the incursion of the Azerbaijani forces into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, targeting civilian infrastructures, and so on. And actions stemming from that record should be taken," said Mirzoyan.

He also discussed the nature of the CSTO as a military-political alliance, one of whose components is the protection of the territorial integrity of the member states, if necessary, by military means. "Thus, we expect our CSTO partners to regard the decisions to be made in this spirit, which unfortunately did not receive such regard from other countries. Work is currently ongoing," Mirzoyan said, referring to the ongoing process of refining the CSTO's decision to provide assistance to Armenia.

The Foreign Minister added that the provision of military-technical assistance to Armenia has also been considered by the CSTO, but for them, the primary concern remains the political assessment. "Our priority is the political assessment, the recording by our allies that an incursion has occurred into the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Following that, we can also consider the rest," noted Ararat Mirzoyan.
