Putin Bans LGBT Propaganda in the Country: A Package of Laws Signed

Putin has signed a package of laws banning propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the law, the issuance of rental certificates for films that promote non-traditional sexual relations, preferences, and gender transition is prohibited. Advertisements and publications displaying and propagating non-traditional sexual relations and preferences will also be banned, as will books, films, and audiovisual services under the LGBT propaganda ban.

There are also provisions for penalties based on the specified articles:

1. Responsibility for the promotion of pedophilia (fines for individuals up to 800,000 rubles, for organizations up to 10 million, and for foreigners, expulsion as well).
2. Responsibility for the dissemination of descriptions or images of non-traditional sexual relations and preferences among minors (fines for individuals up to 200,000 rubles, for organizations up to 4 million, and for foreigners, expulsion as well).
3. A ban on any propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations and preferences, not only among minors (fines for individuals increase from 100,000 to 400,000 rubles, and for organizations from 1 million to 5 million).

The article also states that "Roskomnadzor" will gain the right to establish regulations for monitoring the internet to identify information and programs that are subject to restriction under the LGBT and pedophilia propaganda ban.
