City Hall Demands Accountability from Ishkhan Saghatelyan
The Yerevan City Hall has filed several lawsuits against Ishkhan Saghatelyan, the representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) in the National Assembly and a member of parliament, for organizing peaceful gatherings.
According to an examination of the 'Datalex' judicial information system, it has become clear that the Yerevan City Hall is seeking to hold Ishkhan Saghatelyan administratively liable, essentially fining him for committing an administrative offense as stipulated in Part 1 of Article 180.1 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Republic of Armenia.
This article establishes responsibility for holding gatherings in violation of the established legal order, specifically for failing to notify the community leader in the manner required by law or for violating notification conditions. The liability in question pertains to the organization of nationwide protests that began in May 2022.
The hearings on this case are scheduled to take place in January next year. No further information is currently available.
