European Parliament Member States Conditions for Azerbaijan to Accept International Norms
European Parliament member Lars Patrick Berg is convinced that the Azerbaijani authorities will only accept international norms if they are compelled to do so. In this regard, he considers it a primary step for the EU to abandon the gas agreement with Azerbaijan.
The member expressed this conviction in an interview with Armenpress, referring to yet another Azerbaijani provocation—the incident of closing the only highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia.
“These constant provocations need to stop immediately. I urge European institutions and the international community to express their deep concern regarding this latest incident, which harms ongoing efforts for peace and reconciliation,” said the MEP.
The member emphasized that now is the time to de-escalate tensions. According to him, it is necessary to accept that Azerbaijani authorities will only accept international norms if they are forced to do so. “Perhaps our first step is to abandon the gas agreement,” Lars Patrick Berg highlighted.
