It's Winter Not Only Outside but Also in Our Relations with the U.S., Says Russia's Foreign Ministry
Conversations about the prospects of strategic dialogue with the United States are premature. There is a 'winter' in the relations between the two countries, which does not facilitate relevant processes. This was stated by Vladimir Ermakov, director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control at Russia's Foreign Ministry, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Elizabeth Rood, the U.S. charge d'affaires in Russia, told RIA Novosti that Washington is committed to arms control and is waiting for an opportunity to resume dialogue with Moscow on strategic stability, which she noted has been interrupted due to the situation surrounding Ukraine.
“I don’t see much sense in speculating on when such 'ripeness' might occur in Washington. I can only point out that it is winter not only outside but also in our relations with the U.S., and this time of year, as is well known, is not conducive to growth and maturation processes,” Ermakov said.
