Cristiano Ronaldo Claims Goal Against Uruguay Should Count for Him
Portuguese national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo believes that the first goal in the match against Uruguay at the 2022 World Cup should be credited to him. After the game, Ronaldo expressed his emotions, saying, "There was a touch. The ball hit me." His words were captured on camera, according to O Jogo.
Ronaldo attempted to finish a pass from Bruno Fernandes and likely grazed the ball with the tip of his hair; however, FIFA credited the goal to Fernandes, who in fact scored a brace in that game.
The Portuguese national team has earned 6 points and secured its place in the World Cup knockout stage ahead of schedule.
