China's Foreign Ministry on Protests in the Country
The claims of widespread discontent related to China's zero-tolerance policy towards COVID-19 do not reflect reality, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian stated during a press briefing on Monday. The information was reported by RIA Novosti.
"The situation mentioned does not correspond to reality," the diplomat said in response to a journalist's request to comment on the Chinese authorities' plans amid what has been described as 'widespread discontent' regarding the zero-tolerance policy against COVID-19.
The diplomat expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and with the cooperation and support of the entire Chinese people, the country’s efforts to combat the pandemic will be successful.
It should be noted that mass protests continue in China's capital Beijing and many other cities against the restrictive measures imposed by the authorities under the pretext of fighting the coronavirus.
