Iran's Parliament Approves Joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
The Iranian Parliament has approved a bill to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), according to the IRNA news agency. A total of 205 lawmakers voted in favor of the bill.
Abolfazl Amouei, spokesman for the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stated before the vote that Iran's process of joining the SCO has been underway for the past 15 years. “Since then, 49 executive documents have been established, and these documents must be accepted by Iran; essentially, this is a condition for Iran's entry into the SCO,” he added.
