Can CSTO and Russia Provide More Active Support to Armenia? Kosachov Responds
On November 23, the leaders of the CSTO countries will meet in Yerevan. Can this organization and Russia, as its most powerful member, provide more active support to Armenia in its conflict with Azerbaijan, particularly in military terms? Or is the issue of Armenia not relevant at this stage?
In response to a question from a journalist at "Arguments and Facts," Konstantin Kosachov, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia, stated:
"The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, from my perspective, does not fall within the organization’s jurisdiction. Each CSTO member country decides its own position on the matter. As for Russia, it is well known that we sincerely contribute to the resolution of the conflict. Adopting a stance that supports only one side in this conflict would mean exacerbating it. It is necessary to adopt a position of peaceful resolution and help ensure that the terms of this resolution are acceptable to all parties involved."
