Russia to Supply Azerbaijan with Around One Billion Cubic Meters of Natural Gas This Winter
“Russia will supply Azerbaijan with around one billion cubic meters of natural gas this winter,” Gazprom announced today, stating that a corresponding agreement with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) was signed on November 15.
“Fuel supplies will be implemented based on the agreement signed between Moscow and Baku regarding seasonal gas exchanges in 2021. Deliveries will take place until March 2023,” Gazprom reported.
Azerbaijan had ceased importing Russian gas in 2006 following the launch of the Shah Deniz gas field. Between 2010 and 2014, Azerbaijan supplied gas extracted from its territory to the Russian market. Azerbaijan resumed purchasing a limited amount of gas from Gazprom in 2017-18.
