This is a deal, Russia's demands must also be met, says Cavusoglu
It is necessary to activate negotiations over the export of Russian fertilizers. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu during a press conference held in Ankara on November 17.
“Some ask whether we support Russia. No, this is a deal. Russia's demands must also be met for Ukrainian grain to go to those countries that need it. The same applies to the transit of ammonia; it is necessary to accelerate negotiations on this topic,” he said.
Cavusoglu reminded that the grain deal has been extended for an additional 120 days, starting from November 19. He also mentioned that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will continue communications with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, regarding the grain deal.
On November 16, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin stated to “Izvestia” that up to 80% of the 280,000 tons of Russian fertilizers in custody remain in Latvia. He noted that it is “absolutely necessary” to promptly resolve the issue of exporting Russian fertilizers to ensure next year's harvest.
