VIDEO: Conscripts Can Transition to Contract Service After 6 Months, Says Papikyan

The Ministry of Defense is proposing a new system for transitioning conscripts from mandatory military service to contract military service. During a session of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan presented a draft amendment to the "Military Service and Status of Servicemen" law.

According to the proposal, a new program called "Defender of the Fatherland" will be introduced, which will discontinue the operations of the existing "I Am" program. It is noteworthy that currently, two servicemen are serving under the "I Am" program.
