Scholz: 'It’s a Tough Challenge' to Reach Joint Statement After G20 Summit
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated that it will be difficult to make a clear statement regarding global issues and the war in Ukraine during this week’s G20 meeting in Indonesia, as reported by Reuters.
“We are working very hard to make clear and important statements not only about all the issues that affect the world together but also about peace questions and the consequences of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine,” he said.
He made this announcement during a joint press conference with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
“It is going to be a complex issue, and I believe that we will require a lot of time and effort in Bali,” he added.
Earlier, Politico reported that senior Indonesian politicians are urging Western leaders to make concessions regarding criticism of Russia at the G20 summit to ensure the event does not end without a final statement.
