Senator's Powerful Speech: 'Do Armenian Lives Have Less Value Than Ukrainian Lives?'
In the French Senate, discussions are underway regarding a resolution to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan. Opening the discussion, Senator Bruno Retailleau stated, 'We cannot leave Armenia alone with its misfortunes.'
The senator recalled Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia's sovereign territory and drew a comparison to the events in Ukraine. 'Do Armenian lives have less value than Ukrainian lives? Does Armenia's sovereignty hold less value than Ukraine's sovereignty?' he asked his colleagues.
'Numerous sanctions have been imposed against Russia. Yet, no sanctions have been directed against Azerbaijan and Turkey. Europe has forgotten its values. This is not just a local conflict; it is an element of Turkish imperialism and pan-Turkism,' the senator emphasized, noting that the Armenian people, who have survived genocide, have found themselves in a tragic state of isolation.
