Video: For Armenia, Russia's Proposed Approaches on Nagorno-Karabakh are Acceptable, Says Pashinyan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has aligned his stance on Nagorno-Karabakh based on the public statements made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during negotiations in Prague. Pashinyan made this remark during a bilateral meeting with Putin in Sochi, ahead of a trilateral meeting.
“The agenda of our bilateral relations is extensive, but I would like to focus on regional security issues. In your speech at the Valdai Club, you addressed the question of a possible peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. You emphasized some important parameters of that process related to Nagorno-Karabakh, asserting that you would support the selection of principles favored by the Armenian public. I hope that you will back these proposals in any possible statement resulting from the trilateral meeting,” Pashinyan stated.
He reminded that during the last CSTO meeting with Putin's participation, he mentioned that the approaches proposed by Russia concerning Nagorno-Karabakh are acceptable for Armenia regarding the fundamental principles and parameters for establishing inter-state relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Pashinyan noted that Armenia had put forth these proposals, but so far, there has not been a commitment from the Russian side to support them. The Prime Minister added that these proposals are entirely consistent with those agreed upon in Prague on October 6, 2022.
