A Police Guard Will Be Established in Armenia

In Armenia, a Police Guard is set to be established based on the framework of the Police Forces, the Main Department of State Protection, and the Traffic Police's escort unit. As reported by Armenpress, this was stated by Deputy Chief of Police Ara Fidanian during a joint session of parliamentary standing committees discussing the draft law on the 2023 state budget. He emphasized that significant changes and a re-evaluation of the structure and functions of the Police will be implemented following the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"We plan to assign the following functions to the Police Guard: ensuring public order and public safety, securing the buildings and structures of state bodies and organizations under state protection, as well as ensuring the safety of critically important sites, escorting high-ranking officials, as well as representatives of foreign delegations as stipulated by state protocol, ensuring the safety of special cargo transportation, and so on," said Fidanian.
