Zakharova on the Execution of Soldiers
The Russian side calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to immediately conduct a comprehensive analysis of the videos showing the execution of soldiers. In the event of confirmation of the facts, all those responsible should be held accountable, stated Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The videos presented are filled with scenes of extreme brutality. All cases of violations of international humanitarian law must be thoroughly investigated. We urge the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities to immediately conduct a comprehensive analysis of these videos, including from the perspective of identifying war crimes, and in the event of confirmation of facts, all those responsible must be punished to the fullest extent of the law," the diplomat emphasized.
Zakharova highlighted that Moscow continues to make serious efforts to stabilize the situation in the region and to regulate relations between Baku and Yerevan. "Peace has no alternative. We are ready to provide the necessary support to the parties," she added.
It is worth recalling that on the morning of October 2, a video circulated on Azerbaijani Telegram channels showing Azerbaijani soldiers executing Armenian captives. It later became known that the crime was committed from one of the positions in Ishkhanasar, specifically at the "Hovaz 1" height.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has demanded a clear assessment of the flagrant war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces during this and previous periods.
