I Am Shocked by the Devastation I Saw in Jermuk: German Deputy Ambassador
The newly appointed Deputy Ambassador of Germany in Armenia, acting Charge d'Affaires Erik Tintrup, has stated that he is "shocked" by the images of destruction he witnessed in Jermuk.
“Jermuk is a picturesque, peaceful resort located amidst beautiful nature. There were even German tourists here on Tuesday. The fact that none of the residents were killed is almost miraculous, as artillery shells have struck in the direction of restaurants and the cable car, just a few hundred meters away from residential buildings and hotels filled with tourists,” Tintrup said during his visit to Jermuk on September 16, as quoted by the Facebook page of the German Embassy.
He also mentioned that a German tourist was able to photograph the explosions from her hotel room, indicating how close they were. “I am extremely concerned. We sympathize with the Armenian people,” Erik Tintrup added.
