UN to Discuss Armenia-Azerbaijan Border Situation Again Today
The UN Security Council will hold a meeting today, September 15, to discuss the situation at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. This was reported by the TASS agency, referencing the Security Council’s work agenda.
According to the agency, the meeting has been convened at the request of Armenia. The situation at the border was previously discussed during a closed session of the Security Council. This time, the discussions will be held in an open format.
It is important to note that Azerbaijani troops launched an attack along the state border of the Republic of Armenia in the early hours of September 13, around 00:05, carrying out military operations towards the regions of Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Gegharkunik. The Armenian Ministry of Defense reported that positions located in Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish, and Ishkhanasar were subjected to shelling. Strikes are also being directed at civilian infrastructure. Preliminary reports indicate that the Armenian side has suffered 105 casualties. Armenian Defense Ministry spokesperson Aram Torosyan announced during a briefing last evening that as of 20:00, firing had nearly ceased in all directions and no significant incidents had been recorded.
