UN Security Council to Convene on Situation at Armenia-Azerbaijan Border
The UN Security Council will convene today, September 15, to discuss the situation at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, according to TASS.
The meeting has been called at the request of Armenia. The previous day, the situation along the border was addressed during closed consultations of the Security Council. This time, discussions will be held in an open format.
It is worth noting that the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched an assault along the state border of Armenia at around 00:05 on September 13, initiating military operations in the directions of Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Gegharkunik regions. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has reported that positions in the directions of Sotk, Vardenis, Gorays, Kapan, Artanish, and Ishkhanasar have been subjected to shelling. Attacks are also being directed at civilian infrastructure.
Initial reports indicate that the Armenian side has suffered 105 casualties.
