My message to the Russians, as before, is this: tomorrow will only be worse – State Department official
The State Department has explained why the United States does not want to recognize Russia as a state that sponsors terrorism. The goal of Washington is not to label Moscow with a negative designation, but to achieve a strategic defeat for Moscow in Ukraine. This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform by the head of the U.S. State Department's Office of Sanctions Coordination.
He added that the Russian side's position on the grain deal is "misleading." The head of the office also noted that the U.S. will continue to work towards implementing new sanctions against Russia related to the events in Ukraine.
"My message to the Russians, as before, is this: tomorrow will only be worse," he said. He specifically warned those who have chosen to support the Kremlin's line.
According to the State Department representative, a new package of sanctions is being developed.
