Seryozha Barseghyan Sets Two Records and Becomes Champion
At the ongoing European Weightlifting Championships for under 15s in Poland, Armenia's representative, 61 kg weightlifter Seryozha Barseghyan, has set two records and been declared the champion. The information was reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
Barseghyan won a gold medal with a record total lift of 236 kg. In the snatch category, he lifted 111 kg, which is also a record among European athletes under 15, while in the clean and jerk category, Barseghyan held a weight of 125 kg overhead. He also earned two additional small gold medals in the individual lifts.
Other champions from the European Youth Championship include Gyumri weightlifters Mikael Cholakyan and Alexandra Grigoryan. The European Youth and M15 Championship will conclude on August 17.
