Current Situation in Yelpin Village After Enemy Gunfire Yesterday
The enemy fired towards Yelpin village yesterday. Andranik Agakhanyan, the village mayor, informed Factinfo about this, noting that today the situation is calm and there have been no new border incidents.
In a conversation with the news agency, the village mayor elaborated that the enemy fired directly towards the village, resulting in damage to a car belonging to a resident of a neighboring village.
Andranik Agakhanyan stated that the situation in the village is calm today. “Everything is fine, we have no problems. The incident occurred in the upper part of the village, they fired towards the village. There were about five shots, but our village is not a target; they cannot aim and shoot. The bullet just fell by accident and hit a villager's car, we have no other issues, and there is no panic,” said the mayor.
When asked why the adversary has been targeting Vayots Dzor lately, the mayor struggled to answer. “I cannot respond to that question; perhaps you can find out from the Ministry of Defense, I do not have information on such matters,” he said.
In response to whether there are concerns that upcoming Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation efforts might put certain parts of Vayots Dzor under enemy control, the mayor said, “No, there are no concerns.”
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Defense reported that yesterday, at around 4:15 PM, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire from various firearms, including large-caliber weapons, towards the Armenian military positions located in the Yelpin area of Vayots Dzor, as well as the road leading to the village, damaging a civilian vehicle.
