Ashot Khachatryan Wins 9:0 Against Turkish Rival and Advances to Semifinals
At the ongoing European Youth Wrestling Championships in Rome, Armenian representative Ashot Khachatryan has advanced to the semifinals. In the 67 kg weight category, he defeated Turkish wrestler Onur Yurtdağ with a score of 9:0. For a spot in the finals, he will face Ukrainian Marian Hobulovski.
In the qualification round, Ashot Khachatryan also secured a convincing victory, beating Serbian Momcilo Gajic 9:0, and in the Round of 16, he triumphed over Italian Alessandro Gresp with a score of 11:0.
Another Armenian wrestler, Suren Aghajanyan, is also in the semifinals in the 60 kg category. He outperformed Swedish wrestler Ilyas Yason Ayhanyi in the quarterfinals, winning 9:0. His opponent in the semifinal will be Azerbaijani Nihat Zahid Mammadli. Suren Aghajanyan began his campaign from the Round of 16, where he also won decisively, defeating Latvian Kaspars Bondarenko 11:0.
