US to Continue Military Assistance to Azerbaijan; Biden Circumvents Section 907, Says Sargsyan

International relations expert Suren Sargsyan writes: “Joe Biden has circumvented Section 907. The US will continue to provide military assistance to Azerbaijan. The 907th section of the Freedom Support Act prohibits the US government from providing assistance to Azerbaijan. This can only be done if the president circumvents this law, notifies Congress, and is able to provide military assistance to Azerbaijan. This is how all US presidents have acted every year since 2002.

After the 2020 war, there was a real opportunity to prevent this process. Candidate Biden had previously called on President Trump to stop assistance to Azerbaijan and no longer circumvent Section 907. Our community and lobbyists did everything they could to take advantage of this opportunity. In this regard, they do not receive any support from the Armenian authorities. They are fighting alone in Washington against Turkish-Azerbaijani lobbying, embassies, and petrodollars,” Sargsyan wrote.
