Here’s Where My Declared Financial Assets Come From: Hakob Arshakyan
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hakob Arshakyan, has responded to recent news circulating in the media regarding his name.
“In the last two days, two articles appeared in the media related to my name. One was about the origin of the financial assets I declared before my appointment as the Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications, and IT in 2018. In this regard, I would like to inform that since 2010, I have been working in the high-tech sector for one of the world’s leading companies, and since 2014, I have headed the company’s regional partners' program, which included India, the CIS, Arab countries, and Africa, and received corresponding remuneration, which is much higher than my current salary. This is where my declared financial assets come from. It is self-evident that the authors of the article were perplexed as to how individuals can earn money without holding public office, considering that previously, financial assets and real estate were typically associated with holding public positions.
In this regard, the Armenian law on ‘Illegal Property Confiscation’ has already been implemented, and former, current, and future public officials can no longer enrich themselves at the expense of public and state development.
The second article stated that a car serving me is making 'tricks' in Liberty Square. In this regard, I would like to inform the public that yesterday I participated in the graduation ceremony of Yerevan State University graduates, and the part visible in the footage from Liberty Square was designated for parking at that time, where my service vehicle was also parked.
I wish everyone a good mood and a wonderful workday,” Arshakyan wrote on his Facebook page.
