In Recent Years, Foreigners Including Turks Have Visited Artsakh, Some Even Married
In recent days, various statements have been made regarding unimpeded visits by foreign citizens to Artsakh, particularly to the city of Shushi, and alleged activities harmful to the Republic of Artsakh. This information comes from the National Security Service (NSS) of Artsakh.
In response to the diverse comments regarding these events, we report the following: According to Article 11 of the Law of Artsakh on National Security Bodies, the National Security Service is authorized to conduct counter-intelligence activities aimed at uncovering, preventing, and thwarting espionage activities of foreign states' special services and other organizations, as well as individuals.
Especially in recent years, many foreign citizens, including Turks, have visited the Republic of Artsakh for tourism and other purposes. There have even been recorded cases of marriages and instances of individuals establishing permanent residence in Artsakh.
The National Security Service of the Republic has consistently identified suspicious cases as part of its counter-intelligence activities, carried out necessary verification and preventive actions. These individuals have been summoned to the National Security Service for clarifications, and the entry of undesirable persons has been completely prohibited.
Based on the above, we urge and request not to exploit these circumstances unnecessarily and not to raise doubts about the effectiveness and importance of the hard work carried out by the national security bodies of Artsakh over the years and currently. Instead, in case of witnessing any suspicious incidents directed against the security of the Republic of Artsakh, we appeal for high awareness and immediate reporting to the law enforcement agencies of Artsakh.
