What Lavrov Will Discuss in Ankara: Peskov Clarifies

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has informed reporters that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is likely to discuss the topic of Turkey's possible actions in Syria during his visit to Ankara.

"I assume the minister will talk about this issue during the upcoming discussions," Peskov stated.

Referring to statements regarding the reinforcement of positions around the cities where an operation is expected, Peskov noted that this is within Syria's sovereign territory.

"You are speaking about the sovereign territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, and it is the armed forces of that state that are either reinforcing or not reinforcing their positions in this or that area," he said.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the armed forces would carry out anti-terror operations within the country’s borders.
