Russia Claims Need for CSTO Peacekeepers May Be Felt in Ukraine

“We are unlikely to agree to any NATO countries attempting to enter there under the pretext of peacekeepers,” said Andrey Kartapolov, head of the Defense Committee of the Russian State Duma, during a conversation with journalists.

He also did not rule out that the need for peacekeeping forces from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) may be felt in Ukrainian territory and in the Donbas republics. The information was reported by RIA Novosti.

Discussing the importance of peacekeepers, Kartapolov recalled that Russian peacekeeping forces are carrying out a mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, and that CSTO peacekeepers were involved during the events in Kazakhstan in January.
