Aliyev once again speaks about the Zangezur corridor and relations with Armenia
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, along with his wife Mehriban, took an excursion to the occupied historical Koksakan region, which has been renamed by Azerbaijan as Zangilan. As usual, the Azerbaijani leader made several statements.
“Our independence was not strong either at the beginning of the 20th century or in recent times. That is why our people faced great tragedies. Both Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh were occupied. The authorities at that time could not defend our lands. However, today our independence is strong, and as a result, we achieved victory in the Second Karabakh War—a historical Victory. Consequently, we brought the opponent to their knees and today we are here,” said the authoritarian leader of Azerbaijan.
He noted that another important issue is the opening of the “Zangezur corridor.” “We said that a peace treaty should be signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia tried to avoid this, because a peace treaty means mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of the states. But as a result, we reached that point, and Azerbaijan has already decided on its working group. Armenia has always tried to prevent this. But again, look at the official statement from the Brussels meeting; it has already been decided that both the railway and the highway will pass through Megrik and Zangezur. In other words, we have achieved this,” he added.
