“Laparosh Beranov Inch-vor Anhaskanal Eakner Eyn” Gegam Manukyan on the Gyumri Incident
The government is resorting to domestic provocations. Yesterday, I listened to a recording where two members of the ruling party were allegedly distributing money to bring people to the opposition rally, it's just a shame. This was stated today, on May 10, during an interview with journalists at the start of a disobedience march in Yerevan by the MP of the ‘Hayastan’ parliamentary faction, Gegam Manukyan.
Commenting on the incident in Gyumri, where young protesters assaulted elderly men, he said: “Those grandfathers they refer to, I was just in my car; otherwise, I would have been one of the first there. None of those grandfathers were actually grandfathers. The behavior, insults, aggression, and executing such an order for two pennies was definitely not the behavior of a grandfather raising a decent grandchild. In this case, those standing opposite were human beings with very offensive language, as the people of Gyumri would say, ‘mysterious beings with laparosh mouths’ who came specifically on a special assignment. They were attacking many cars, throwing eggs, and beating them. One of our guys’ cars was completely damaged. I believe the preliminary investigation will clarify this,” said Manukyan.
