We Have a World Vice Champion
On the latest day of the World Youth Weightlifting Championships taking place in Greece, our athletes Suren Grigoryan in the 89kg category and Gevorg Ghahramanyan took to the platform. Grigoryan had a successful performance, winning 2 small bronze medals, and in the overall standings, he was recognized as second with a total result of 340kg (155+185). Gevorg Ghahramanyan, unfortunately, failed to complete his lift in the clean and jerk and ended up without a medal.
With this, Armenia has now secured a total of 9 medals in the ongoing championship: 3 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze. The highest awards were all achieved by Garannik Cholakyan from Gyumri in the 55kg category. Additionally, Gor Sahakyan also secured a bronze medal in the total standings in the up to 67kg weight category, as well as silver and bronze awards in individual events.
Armenia is also represented by Milena Khachatryan (76kg category), Garik Karapetyan (96kg), and Petros Petrosyan (102kg) in this championship.
