How the Teacher Who Hit a Student Was Punished: City Hall Reports
On May 5th, staff from the Education Department of the Yerevan City Hall visited School No. 24 named after S. Spandaryan to investigate the incident that occurred today. This was announced by the municipality.
Based on the investigation conducted with the participation of the school administration and teachers, it was found that the incident took place in the 8th grade during an English lesson, when the teacher lost self-control in the created situation, exhibiting inappropriate and unacceptable behavior for an educator.
As a result, based on Order No. 30 issued by the school principal on May 5, 2022, the teacher received a disciplinary punishment of "Severe Reprimand." The Yerevan City Hall strongly condemns any manifestation of anti-pedagogical behavior towards students, regardless of the circumstances, and emphasizes the educator's responsibility to find an individual approach to each child.
The Education Department of Yerevan City Hall will continue to monitor and eliminate such behavior in public educational institutions, and will work collaboratively to create an appropriate environment for the proper realization of the educational mission entrusted to schools.
