There Can Be No Winners in a Nuclear War, Lavrov Says
Russia is not threatening anyone with nuclear war; this is something that Western countries have started discussing. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“I was asked whether a nuclear war is possible, if the risks of starting a nuclear war have increased, and whether Russia assumes that it could happen. I replied that since the very beginning of our cooperation with the Trump administration, we proposed to reaffirm the 1997 Reagan-Gorbachev thesis that there can be no winners in a nuclear war, and therefore it should never be unleashed,” Lavrov said in an interview with Al Arabiya television.
According to him, it is Russia that has repeatedly initiated statements on behalf of all nuclear countries that confirm commitments related to nuclear weapons.
Lavrov also emphasized that Russia does not play with the words
