Peskov on Russian Gas Supplies
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, assured journalists on Friday that Russian gas supplies will not be halted if buyers do not confirm payment in rubles by April 1. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“For now, the situation is as follows: yesterday I received many questions about whether this means that if there is no confirmation in rubles, gas supplies will stop from April 1. No, that's not the case. This does not follow from the decree signed yesterday. Payment for the deliveries currently being made does not have to occur today; it should happen in the second half of April, at the end of April or even at the beginning of May,” Peskov clarified.
In response to a question about the deadline for opening accounts in Russian banks for gas payments, Peskov advised to contact Gazprom for details.
