We do not collect money from Russian oligarchs: Boris Johnson on donations
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday denied reports that his Conservative Party accepts donations from Russian oligarchs, stating that all those who fund the governing party in the state are registered in the UK, according to Reuters.
“The Conservative Party has received funding from certain donors who have earned much of their wealth in Russia,” the news agency noted, referencing data registered by the Electoral Commission.
When asked if the Prime Minister would reject donations from Russian oligarchs, Johnson told Parliament, “I just think it’s very important to understand that we do not collect money from Russian oligarchs... we are collecting money from those people who are registered in the UK’s interests register for voting purposes.”
