Iran Ready to Act as Mediator to Resolve Tension Between Ukraine and Russia
Iran has expressed its willingness to act as a mediator to resolve the tension between Ukraine and Russia. This was announced by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh, who noted that Iran is closely monitoring the developments in Ukraine, as reported by Tasnim.
Expressing concern about the tension between Ukraine and Russia, he stated, “We have good relations with both sides, and we call for maintaining calm. We are ready to make efforts to ease the tension.” He also criticized the United States for escalating tensions, pointing out that Washington has not learned lessons from its actions in various regions, such as Afghanistan, due to its counterproductive policies.
Khatibzadeh also mentioned that the Foreign Ministry has issued a statement urging Iranian citizens in Ukraine to keep in touch with the embassy.
