The newspaper "Past" reports: "As is well known, a competition has been announced by Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, to build a statue of Jesus Christ in Armenia, with the deadline for submitting applications set for February 20. This initiative, which has sparked a strong response among various segments of the public, has also become a source of creative inspiration.
According to information from the "Past" newspaper, there are currently over 100 applications submitted by cultural figures, designers, and architects. Notably, there is interest in this mega project not only from Armenians in Armenia, but also from many compatriots abroad.
Moreover, our sources indicate that there are quite a few participants who have presented alternative ideas and proposals that symbolize Christianity in general. For instance, many of the suggestions aim to create a statue complex that encapsulates the philosophy of the Bible and embodies the spirit of Christian unity among the world's Christians.
