Data Partially Redacted with Asterisks When Scanning QR Codes: Samvel Martirosyan
Starting from yesterday, some personal data, such as passport and date of birth, are now being partially redacted with asterisks when scanning QR codes. This was reported by media expert Samvel Martirosyan.
It is worth reminding that just days ago, Martirosyan drew public attention to the fact that when QR codes are scanned in cafés and restaurants, personal information including a person's full name, patronymic, surname, date of birth, and passport number is completely visible.
“Well, who and which body decided that we are a small nation and need to know everything about each other? Who decided that my passport number is public information? If that’s the case, why not add more to the mix - home address, phone number, social security number? There is plenty of room for improvement here,” he said.
