24-Year-Old Woman Beaten and Kidnapped in Central Yerevan
On January 17, at 02:20, a woman reported to the police station of Yerevan’s Central district that her 24-year-old daughter had left home on January 16 at 16:00 and had not returned. This information was shared by the police press service.
Following operational investigative measures, the Central Criminal Investigative Unit discovered that the girl had been kidnapped by a 25-year-old resident of Ejmiatsin. On January 17, he was located on Shiraz Street and was taken into custody by the police along with his Mercedes vehicle. The kidnapped girl was found inside the car and was transported to a medical center.
During a personal search, the man was found in possession of a syringe with ash-like traces. The 24-year-old girl reported that on January 16, at the parking lot of Mashtots Avenue, the 25-year-old man had made threats to seriously harm her and her brother, delivered multiple blows to her body with his hands and feet, causing her physical injuries, and subsequently kidnapped her and taken her to his home in Ejmiatsin, where he broke her mobile phone.
A criminal case has been initiated based on several articles of the RA Criminal Code. The young man has been arrested.
