Armenian Citizens Among Top Recipients of Russian Citizenship in 2021
Armenian citizens hold leading positions among foreign nationals who obtained Russian citizenship in 2021. According to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, last year saw an increase in the number of Russian citizens from Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Armenia compared to others.
“During the first 11 months of 2021, more than 667,000 foreign citizens and stateless persons received Russian citizenship, compared to about 563,000 in the same period of 2020. Among foreign citizens who obtained Russian citizenship in 2021, the leading positions are held by citizens of Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Armenia,” the ministry responded to an inquiry from TASS.
