“Did the Azerbaijanis deceive us?” Petros Ghazaryan’s question confused Armen Grigoryan
“Opposition members say that if you were a far-sighted government, during the negotiations in wartime, you would have secured that this road (the section of the Goris-Kapan highway - ed.) would remain ours for at least a certain period. You did not do that. And you have thrown our interests to the wind,” said host Petros Ghazaryan on the Public Television of Armenia, addressing the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan.
The Security Council Secretary noted that such an agreement had been made, to which Petros Ghazaryan replied, “Did the Azerbaijanis deceive us?”
The question quite confused Armen Grigoryan, and he stammered in response, “Until this point, we have utilized... the agreement, overall, has been based on the logic that until we have an alternative road, we will use this road.”
According to him, the government does not make any agreements behind the back of the people. “Our government is probably one of the most open governments, we communicate everything. The step taken yesterday was also in the same logic,” he emphasized.
In response to Petros Ghazaryan’s observation that if border demarcation and delimitation have not yet taken place, why have we voluntarily given this road to the enemy, Grigoryan said, “There is an overall framework of common sense that should be maintained in politics as well.”
