Large Number of Conscripts Serving in Open Areas in Syunik, Says NSS Deputy Director
In Syunik, conscripts serving in the area still lack necessary conditions, stated NSS Deputy Director Aram Hakobyan during a joint session of the National Assembly's Defense, Security and Financial-Budgetary Committees held to discuss the budget.
Hakobyan noted, “Given the situation, the southern border has been withdrawn and is now located within the territory of Syunik, where conscripts are involved, a scenario we had not seen before.” He did not specify the number of conscripts but mentioned that there are a significant number of them. Consequently, the NSS has increased the budget allocation for purchasing medical supplies in its 2022 planning.
“And at this moment, you know under what conditions they are serving. We still lack adequate conditions; we are constructing new outposts, which will be ready in the near future, after which we will have better conditions, and there may not be a need for that anymore. But for now, they are living in tents and serving in open areas,” the NSS Deputy Director added.
