Artem Pataputian of Armenian descent becomes Nobel Prize winner in Medicine
The 2021 Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to Armenian-American researcher Artem Pataputian and David Julius. According to the Nobel Committee's announcement, the prize was granted for discoveries related to temperature and touch receptors.
54-year-old Artem Pataputian was born in Beirut and relocated to the United States with his family during the Lebanese Civil War. He currently leads the 'Pataputian Exploratory Proteomics' at the SCRIPPS Research Institute.
